Social Program

REFRESHMENTS

Morning and afternoon refreshments will be served at the times indicated in the program in the ancient cloister, Faculty of Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome. The cloister was built between 1493 and 1503, perhaps by Giuliano da Sangallo, and now fully incorporated in the early twentieth century buildings that house the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rome. It is adjacent to the San Pietro In Vincoli Church, famous for the presence of the Moses by Michelangelo. It is also known as basilica Eudossiana, in memory of the event that took place under the Empress Eudoxia, in the fifth century. The two halves of the chains with which St.Peter was imprisoned in Rome, are placed in contact, and they are miraculously solded. The church was built in order to preserve chains, and for this reason it's name is "In Vincoli" (vincoli = ties).
